Sundar Pichai-1-1024x630Buffett announced that he would like to give over 80 percent of his assets to charitable foundations; in 2020, he increased the amount to a whopping 99 percent. The main recipient was the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, founded by Microsoft founder Bill Gates and his then wife Melinda. The foundation was focused on issues of world education and health; Bill and Buffett had maintained a close relationship since the early 1990s. Other charities that received donations included those run by Buffett's children and the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation named after his late wife. This foundation focuses on women's reproductive health and funded scholarships for college. In 2010, Buffett and Gates came up with the Giving Pledge. This pledge also encouraged other wealthy individuals to donate a majority of their wealth to charitable causes.
